Qumu Brings Video to IBM Connections
IBM Connections is getting a little more social.
A software platform for the office, IBM Connections brings social networking tools inside the enterprise, letting employees and partners use them to connect with new people and share ideas. The platform already included limited video support in the form of a media gallery that can store photos and videos, but video is about to take a much more prominent role. Business video platform Qumu has announced a video collaboration tool that works within IBM Connections.
Called the IBM Connections Social Video Solution, it lets employees upload, manage, share, and distribute video. The Qumu solution works within the IBM Connections interface, so employees don't need to learn a new system.
With the Qumu offering, employees can load video onto any IBM Connections page, submitting it to an approval workflow. They can create videos as needed for a company blog or insert an existing video into a post.
Employees can create videos from their web cams or make screen captures. The platform includes video transcoding and version management. New videos can be inserted into an IBM Connections page, then shared, rated, or commented on.
IBM Connections users interested in getting a closer look should attend the IBM Connect 2013 Partners Panel in Orlando, Florida on February 1st.
