WeVideo and Sony Announce Cloud Editing Partnership

Cloud video editing company WeVideo has hit on a clever method to get people to try its services. WeVideo has partnered with Sony to offer 90-days of WeVideo editing to people who purchase certain Sony video cameras.

To qualify, buyers have to get a new 2012 or 2013 Sony Handycam or Action Cam. The 90-days of service gets them the use of WeVideo's online editing tools, 30 minutes of 1080p HD video export per month, 10GB of online storage, and the use of 400 royalty-free audio tracks. The offer is good only to buyers in the United States. Qualified buyers will access WeVideo's tools through the Sony PlayMemories site.

"Since 1985, the Sony Handycam has been improving the way people record and share their memories and now, Sony and WeVideo are making it even easier for anyone with an online computer to create and share fully-edited video projects," says Jostein Svedsen, CEO of WeVideo. "In today's constantly connected, social ecosystem, we believe the transition between creating and sharing has to be as seamless as possible."

WeVideo launched its Social Video Engagement platform in September, 2012, letting companies embed a version of the WeVideo editor on their own sites. Companies can supply video and audio assets, then allow users to share their creations on social networking platforms.
