Dejero Offers a Stream and a View of Vatican Proceedings

Dejero, a Canadian company that specializes in cellular newsgathering equipment, wants news organizations to know that there's still room on the balcony. Dejero has secured a rooftop terrace in Rome overlooking the Vatican, and it's offering broadcasters not only a place to cover the papal succession, but also a way to stream that coverage out.

Dejero is known for its Live+ platform of bonded wireless uplink solutions. Broadcasters that take a spot on its terrace are promised power and a 6Mpbs Ethernet connection. Also, each customer will have the use of a Dejero Live+ 20/20 transmitter, which they can use to stream high- or standard-definition video over 4G, 3G, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet connections.

Key papal succession days should be data traffic nightmares for those covering the events. Dejero notes that a half-million people are expected. To ensure that its customers are able to stream, Dejero has created a private long-range Wi-Fi network in the St. Peter's Basilica plaza. That means broadcasters won't be dependent on cellular networks.
