UpLynk Announces Live Linear Streaming, Will Show at NAB

Live linear streaming should be a hot topic at this year's NAB conference, and newcomer UpLynk is getting ahead of the pack by announcing today that it now offers live linear streaming. UpLynk came out of stealth mode in January, showing off its simplified HD adaptive streaming service, as well as its big partner: Disney/ABC. That media giant will be a live linear customer, as well.

With live linear streaming, viewers enjoy an always-on TV-like experience, where they can tune into a channel, rather than selecting a video. UpLynk promises high-quality streaming, and simple setup that lets broadcasters deliver live channels quickly. The system integrates with existing playout automation systems for content and ad replacement. UpLynk offers an open API for integration with third-party ad servers.

UpLynk's live linear solution isn't limited to certain platforms, as the company says it works with Windows and Mac desktops, as well as iOS, Android, Windows 8 apps, BlackBerry 10, Linux, and Roku.

Disney/ABC, already a streaming customer of UpLynk, will use the live linear delivery with Disney free apps, streaming live content to authenticated viewers.

Potential customers who want a closer look will find UpLynk at the Amazon Web Services booth (SL10405) at NAB. UpLynk will also offer private viewings at its Wynn Hotel suite.
