Zeebox Offers Video Recommendations Powered by Digitalsmiths

Video metadata specialist Digitalsmiths announced today that it's now working with Zeebox, which creates second-screen content recognition apps, to provide enhanced video discovery recommendations to Zeebox users. Zeebox will use Digitalsmiths' Seamless Discovery technology to drive parts of its video recommendation services for all platforms.

Zeebox launched its Recommended for You feature this week, delivering personalized recommendations for each viewer. Recommendations are based on the viewer's history with the Zeebox app. Zeebox also offers a Similar Shows feature that suggests content related to the program currently or recently watched.

"People love the Zeebox program guide, but scrolling through a list of 150 channels is not the future," notes Anthony Rose, co-founder and CTO of Zeebox. "What you want is a small set of program recommendations, just for you, that you can watch right now. Our new personalized recommendation system offers that, based on your viewing history, likes, and more. We look to evolve Zeebox further over the coming months to be your perfect personalized program discovery application.”

Digitalsmiths says that its Seamless Discovery technology is already used by several multichannel video programming distributors, consumer electronics companies, and second-screen apps. The technology combines video discovery with management tools that can control the recommendations viewers receive.
