LiveU and iStreamPlanet Combine to Offer Mobile Live Solution

Video creators streaming from remote locations will soon have a new option, as LiveU and iStreamPlanet are teaming up to offer a cloud-based solution for streaming live video to multiple screens. LiveU's cellular backpacks will soon come equipped with Aventus, a cloud-based live video workflow solution created by iStreamPlanet. Aventus will become generally available in September, and the LiveU integration will follow after a short period of testing.

Aventus moves the live event and live linear channel video workflow from hardware to the cloud, and includes tools for scheduling, quality control, media processing, digital rights management, and multiscreen delivery. According to iStreamPlanet, Aventus's open REST APIs let it integrate with existing solutions, such as production, content management systems (CMS), and ad servers. Aventus can work on-premises with a private cloud or as software-as-a-service.

The two companies suggest that the combined solution could be used by broadcasters streaming auxiliary content for sports events, adding that it only takes seconds for content to be uploaded, processed, and streamed in multiple bitrates to a variety of devices.

“LiveU’s approach to enabling broadcasters of all sizes is completely aligned with our mission at iStreamPlanet of providing a scalable, flexible, cost effective solution for delivering live online video,” says Robin Cole, vice president of product and services at iStreamPlanet. “Combining LiveU’s mobile transmission with the flexibility of Aventus, broadcasters can deliver more content in multiple bitrates and formats to their viewers.”
