ADSL

Acronym:Asymmetric DSL

Asymmetric DSL The most widely used form of Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) in the United States, ADSL has an asymmetric connection, meaning that it has faster receive (download) speeds when compared to its transmit (upload) speeds. The technical reasoning for asymmetric versus symmetric (SDSL) is negligible; ADSL was rolled out in the United States to avoid cannibalizing T-1 services (a 1.44 mbps symmetric service) and ADSL has remained the only DSL service type widely available in the US.
