DASH-AVC/264

While DASH contains capabilities to handle both MPEG-2 Transport Stream and ISO Base Media File Format (fMP4) container formats, the use of ISO BMFF is more prevalent, in no small part thanks to the DASH Industry Forum’s guidelines around a subset of DASH that uses AVC (H.264) encoding and the ISOBMFF. DASH-AVC/264 guidelines offer consumer electronics (CE) manufacturers the ability to offer decoding of content in popular high- and standard-definition formats in TV sets, set-top boxes, mobile devices, and traditional PC computers. Version 2.0 of the guidelines was published in late 2013 and now includes 1080p playback guidelines
