Deinterlace
For content captured from an interlaced source, whether an old analog camcorder or even newer 1080i devices, the need to de-interlace content prior to streaming to a computer device (which displays content in a progressive format) cannot be over-emphasized. Interlacing is the act of separating each frame into two fields, one with even lines and the other with odd lines, so transcoding to a progressive format without de-interlacing will result in an image that almost appears to be ripped in half.
