Acronym:High Definition Multimedia Interface

High Definition Multimedia Interface, or HDMI, is a connector and cabling scheme capable of carrying both audio and RGB/graphics signals (unlike DVI which only carried graphics) on a smaller connector (19 pins versus 28 pins) that can send up to 8 channels of audio alongside dual-link RGB, up to a resolution of 2500x1600 pixels. Used in a wide variety of consumer electronics equipment, often accompanied by HDCP digital rights management (DRM) for high-definition content protection required by premium content owners.
