Symmetric DSL, used in other parts of the world, such as Europe, with limited deployment in the United States, SDSL has an symmetric connection, meaning that transmit and receive (download and upload) speeds are the same. Some forms of symmetric DSL, such as SHDSL use frequencies that would normally be used by analog telephone service (POTS) to achieve symmetric transmission rates
