UltraViolet

A branding name for the Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem (DECE), UltraViolet is a combination of media files and a digital storage locker service. DECE member companies approved UltraViolet in January 2011 but, as of January 2014, the service is still listed as “UltraViolet Beta” on the website even though more than 15 million accounts have been created and over 12,000 available titles are UltraViolet compliant. According to the DECE, rights to UltraViolet content never expire, although redemption codes that accompany physical copies of a movie (such as a DVD or BluRay disc) may expire. Streaming services, such as CinemaNow and Vudu, support UltraViolet rights
