Adobe Chooses Ixia for Flash Platform Testing

Ixia offers first true large-scale Flash Player emulation for testing media servers, content delivery networks, and data center devices

Calabasas, CA(06 Apr 2010)

Ixia (NASDAQ: XXIA), a leading, global provider of network test solutions, announced an agreement with Adobe Systems Inc. that will provide Adobe®  Flash® Media Streaming technology for Ixia's testing purposes. Under this agreement, Ixia will develop application layer test emulation solutions as part of its award-winning IxLoad product and provide real-world, large-scale testing of media servers, caching systems, and content delivery networks (CDNs).

Deploying rich interactive video and audio content is synonymous with today's Internet experience. Ixia's IxLoad 5.0 will be the first product to incorporate Adobe Flash Player protocols as part of a multiplay testing solution. As the deployment of wireless and mobile networks continues to rise, testing the delivery of video and other media-rich services via CDNs is an important part of planning network infrastructures. The emulation of millions of interactive Flash Player sessions allows service providers to ensure a consistent and predictable user experience, while delivering optimal network utilization.

"Adobe Flash technology is on over 98 percent of connected computers and more than one billion devices," said Adobe's John Collins, Global OEM Partner Manager, rich media solutions. "Because of its prevalence, our customers expect a high level of quality of experience when delivering content via the Adobe Flash Platform and must be confident of their media rich streaming abilities. Ixia's IxLoad tests Flash Player protocols with realistic, high-capacity traffic emulation to accurately plan network capacity."

IxLoad is a scalable solution for testing converged multiplay services and application delivery platforms. IxLoad emulates data, voice, and video subscribers and associated protocols for performance testing.  Its unique and advanced subscriber modeling capabilities create realistic scenarios to validate subscriber quality of experience (QoE).

"Companies that provide content delivery devices and systems require rigorous testing to demonstrate that their networks can handle the traffic load of real-world applications," said Atul Bhatnagar, president and CEO of Ixia. "Our integration with Adobe adds to Ixia's extensive portfolio of IP video test solutions that address the needs of Internet and mobile video delivery businesses."

IxLoad 5.0 is available immediately.  For more information on IxLoad, go to http://www.ixiacom.com/products/ixload/index.php.
