Burlington, MA(07 Aug 2012)
In what is expected to be one of the biggest summer box office seasons in years, Avid (NASDAQ: AVID) today announced that the majority of the 2012 Hollywood Summer Blockbusters used one or more Avid systems such as Media Composer, ProTools and Sibelius to help achieve their creative visions. Some of the highly anticipated productions this summer that used Avid solutions include: The Amazing Spider-Man, The Avengers, Battleship, The Bourne Legacy, Brave, The Dark Knight Rises, Lawless, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, Men In Black 3, Prometheus, Rock of Ages, Savages, and Snow White and the Huntsman.
“It’s fulfilling to see our customers achieve significant commercial success this summer through their creative storytelling,” said Gary Greenfield, CEO at Avid. “We’re proud to support our customers with proven professional video and audio solutions that help them to create the films that are currently capturing the imaginations of audiences around the world as well as fueling what may turn out to be a record-breaking summer at the box office.”
What Customers are Saying
Shannon Mills, supervising sound producer for The Amazing Spider-Man, said, "Avid helped make The Amazing Spider-Man possible by providing solutions that deliver seamless integration between picture and sound. With constantly changing visual effects it is a must that sound and picture can be passed back and forth between departments. Avid does just that, and makes it easy to do. I can't imagine we'd have ever finished without these tools from Avid.”
Jeff Ford, A.C.E., editor of The Avengers said, “I can't imagine cutting The Avengers without Media Composer. The great interface and ability to manage massive amounts of media gave us the speed, flexibility and creative tools we needed to bring this film to the screen. Next to an upright Moviola and a rewind bench, there's no better way to edit.”
Lee Smith, editor of The Dark Knight Rises, said, "We filmed in multiple locations worldwide and had up to seven Media Composer systems connected to our Unity system—which I am happy to say performed perfectly. We were able to cut in IMAX format interspersed with 2:40 35mm, and by simply selecting a different vision track, we could screen in straight 2:40. You need a rock-solid system to edit a film of this complexity, and Avid did not disappoint."
