Cedexis Partners with Varnish Software to Help Customers Build and Manage Their Own Content Delivery Platforms

New Partnership Combines Benefits of Commercial CDNs and Private Cache Nodes for Low Costs-High Quality Content Delivery

PORTLAND, Ore.(26 Oct 2016)

Cedexis, a leader in internet performance monitoring and optimization, today announced a partnership with Varnish Software, a pioneer in caching software and high-performance content delivery. Through this partnership, Cedexis will offer Varnish Extend, a simple to implement solution that optimizes online media delivery while controlling costs.

Varnish Extend combines Varnish Software's best-in-class caching software, with Cedexis's advanced global cloud based load balancing solution for real-time traffic shaping. This powerful combination allows web properties and online media companies to quickly and inexpensively build a customized content delivery infrastructure that can be specifically tuned to their Quality of Experience (QoE) demands, content caching requirements or costs constraints.

"This partnership between Cedexis and Varnish Software makes hybrid architectures accessible to any company that wants to extend its content delivery capabilities and control while providing a high-performance, scalable experience to their users online," said Lars Larsson, CEO at Varnish Software. "Varnish Extend gives customers the software layer necessary to gain complete control to strategically manage their digital content delivery, global traffic management and costs."

This trend of companies moving to new content delivery strategies that combine commercial content delivery networks (CDNs) with private cache servers is accelerating. Large web properties such as Netflix and Facebook have publicly disclosed their movement to private Hybrid- CDN architectures, combining commercial CDN services with their own cloud based caching services. Public broadcasters have started leveraging caching nodes in their local market for live and VOD streaming. Internet Service Providers are using multiple Varnish Software nodes to create their own CDNs for their on-net traffic.

Cedexis and Varnish Software's partnership will make these type of solutions accessible for any company looking to optimize the experience of their users online. Cedexis along with Varnish Software's combined products will provide customers the software layer to gain complete control on global traffic management and costs.

"Cedexis has the most complete real time vision on CDN, Cloud and Data-Centre performance from an end-user perspective," said Julien Coulon, co-founder at Cedexis. "Our customers have been designing hybrid-CDN and building their own CDNs for some time now; however, the partnership between Cedexis and Varnish Software brings a world class solution for both hybrid and DIY CDN to this expanding market on a global basis."

France's SFR, a French telecommunications company that provides voice, video, data and Internet telecommunications and professional services to consumers and businesses, is one of the top-ten most visited sites in France. The company implemented Varnish Plus as a backbone of its private CDN.

"Because SFR delivers video and other large date set formats, we need to chase virtually unlimited objects and deliver fast performance at scale," said Thierry Magnien, CDN Platform Administrator/Developer at SFR. "With Varnish Extend powering our private CDN, SFR is able to reduce costs and gain control over its content delivery. It's exciting to see Varnish Software and Cedexis partner up to give more companies the opportunity to create their own CDNs."

The new Cedexis/Varnish Software Hybrid-CDN solution is available for production use now. Attend the Varnish Software live webinar "How to build a private CDN in four hours" hosted by Cedexis and Varnish Software on November 16, at 9 a.m.(ET)/ 3 p.m. (CET). During the webinar, hosts Per Buer, Varnish Software CTO & founder, and Jason Turner, Senior Director of Global Services at Cedexis, will discuss and demonstrate the new solution.
