Coincident Unlocks the Power of Interactive Video with Coincident Create

New Authoring Tool Enables MSOs, TV Programmers and Advertisers to Build Interactive Video Experiences and Second-Screen Companion Apps

LAS VEGAS, NV(17 Apr 2012)

Coincident - the San Francisco-based technology company behind ScreenSync TV - today announced Coincident Create, a new interactive video authoring tool that enables content owners and distributors, as well as their partners and vendors, to easily create interactive video experiences without depending on Flash or professional programmers. In addition, Coincident Create can be used to build second-screen companion apps to run on iPads, Android Tablets, iPhones and Android phones, as it fully integrates with Coincident’s ScreenSync TV, a new two-screen solution that allows for close synchronization of tablet content to cable broadcast or on-demand linear television content.

An important addition to Coincident’s interactive video platform, Coincident Create is an easy-to-use tool, featuring a drag-and-drop interface that requires no special programming or coding expertise. The tool presents authors with a wide range of new, creative opportunities to enhance the online video playback experience including the ability to:
  • Place annotations or buttons in the video player that allow viewers to jump to another point in the video or change to another video
  • Create overlay or adjacent buttons that allow a viewer to display web content in the same webpage without interrupting the video playback
  • Script the video playback experience, attaching events and actions to key points during video playback - including the ability to skip a section, loop, jump ahead or back, or jump to a point in another video
“With Coincident Create, we now offer companies the ability to capitalize on the growing popularity of the second-screen by allowing them to create their own interactive video experiences and compatible apps,” said David Kaiser, Coincident founder and CEO. “The technology provides users with the opportunity to develop an app for a new show in a matter of days, rather than needing a professional design and development team and several months as in the past.”

Coincident’s recently announced ScreenSync TV technology was chosen as the "Best New Idea Most Likely to Succeed" in the cable market as part of an informal polling conducted at CableLabs Winter Conference in March. Additionally, ScreenSync TV was selected as the best of the two-screen class at CES according to ABI Research analyst Sam Rosen: “Coincident stole the show here; they showed the best, most developed, and most proven second-screen solution, featuring launched TV experiences (Glee Superfan) with synchronized interactivity and easy authoring of rich experiences using templates.”

During the NAB Show® in a private suite at the Wynn, Coincident will be showing the second-screen app experience via ScreenSync TV, and then demonstrating how it was made using Coincident Create. Coincident will also be showing off its technology at the Startup Debut media showcase at NAB on Monday, April 16 from 7-10pm.

Coincident Create “Beta-1” is now available for free download at www.coincident.tv/create.  A version that allows for the creation of second-screen apps will be released in the coming months.
