Datazoom Joins Streaming Video Alliance

Startup seeking to bring data standards to streaming video organizations of all sizes admitted into premier industry forum.

New York(17 Jan 2019)

Datazoom, the data control and integration management platform for every layer of the video technology system stack is pleased to announce it has been awarded a 2019 MEMBERSHIP GRANT and admittance into the STREAMING VIDEO ALLIANCE , the premier video industry forum for media companies to collaborate and collectively improve video streaming.

Founded in 2014, the Streaming Video Alliance is a global association of organizations from across the video ecosystem that have come together to collaborate on building solutions to the technical challenges facing the streaming video industry. Regularly assembling the video industry’s leaders and visionaries, the Alliance is an opportunity for every broadcaster, CDN, technology provider, and peripheral service provider to contribute their expertise to guide the video industry forward. Through best practices, specifications, functional requirements, proof-of-concepts, and other documents published by its working and study groups, the Alliance strives to improve the end-user video experience and promote increased adoption of streaming.

"Our members are the heart of the Alliance, and we're pleased to extend a Grant Membership to Datazoom," said Jason Thibeault, Executive Director at the Alliance. "We look forward to their participation and their contributions to the Alliance's mission of solving critical streaming video challenges."

With a single SDK to collect, synchronize, and route data generated during IP-delivered playback experiences (by the player, CDN, etc.) in real-time, Datazoom’s platform technology enables a single data standard to exist for the fragmented online and OTT video ecosystem. By capturing data through Datazoom, media companies utilizing “best of breed” technologies, which create disparate and siloed data streams, can reap the optimization and control benefits from the same kind of standardized data enjoyed by content distributors who have built their own end-to-end video technology stacks, like Netflix and YouTube.

“Being granted this opportunity to participate and contribute to the discussions and help create recommendations from within the Streaming Video Alliance is both exciting and an honor,” said Datazoom CEO & Cofounder Diane Strutner of the development. “Datazoom was created out of a need to create and encourage adoption for more standards within the video. Data may be one of the biggest areas that not only requires standardization but where greater data ubiquity can unlock huge value for both vendors of and direct businesses within video distribution alike. Although this will be the first time I participate in the Alliance under Datazoom, I’m excited to return, and to be involved once again in the working groups with my peers so that we can accelerate both our efforts and industry growth even faster.”
