Wallingford, CT(13 Feb 2014)

Discover Video announced today the availability of a free Digital Signage Application for Samsung Smart TVs, an industry first. Until now, virtually all digital signage deployments required a "player" box associated with the display, which added cost and complexity. With the advent of Smart TVs, Digital Signage is now built-in to the display, and because the Smart TVs support WiFi, Digital Signage can now be deployed by only connecting power.

The Digital Signage App connects to a cloud or premises DEVOS system, the world-class, comprehensive video streaming system in use by governments, corporations, and schools around the world.  The system supports an unlimited number of signs, unlimited playlists, and supports many templates to display live video, video-on-demand, images, PowerPoint presentations, text, and RSS feeds.

The Digital Signage App also supports the patent-pending Priority Alert system that displays video, text, and web messages during emergencies or other important events.

"Our customers need a unified, easy-to-use system that supports video on desktops, Smartphones, tablets, and in common areas like lobbies." said Rich Mavrogeanes, Discover Video founder and CEO. "Cost and complexity are often barriers to customer success, and now our customers can deploy easy to use Digital Signage for free."

For non-Smart TVs, Discover Video offers the Soft Top Box® that works with virtually any display, and Digital Signage users can even use existing computers to display Digital Signage.

Samsung Smart TV's are available from popular retail outlets and online stores. The Discover Video Signage App is available from the Samsung App Store for free.  The DEVOS system, live stream encoders, live stream transcoders, capture devices, and related products are available from Discover Video and select partners.
