EDUCAUSE West/Southwest Regional Conference to be Webcast to a Live Audience via Mediasite

Sonic Foundry will stream sessions live and on-demand to remote and in-person participants

Madison, Wisconsin(21 Feb 2012)

Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), the trusted market leader for enterprise webcasting and lecture capture, continues its long term sponsorship of EDUCAUSE by providing event webcasting services for the  EDUCAUSE West/Southwest Regional Conference this week in Portland, Oregon.

The theme for the second annual EDUCAUSE West/Southwest Regional Conference, which was also streamed via Mediasite last year, is "Engaging Everyone Effectively" and will focus on ways to collaborate, lead and assess IT's role within higher education as it continues to evolve. The conference is being held February 22-24 and participants can register online to participate in 12 sessions, which will be captured with Mediasite. Two general sessions will be available for public viewing, and ten concurrent sessions will be available exclusively to the online audience for three months. From their desktops, 45 virtual attendees participating in teams from 27 campuses will connect to the more than 275 in-person participants.

"Streaming live and on-demand sessions is a great resource for members unable to attend the actual event, or who prefer to create their own on-campus event. They can actively participate from anywhere - their home, office or even a mobile device - which allows more people to access the content. We are pleased to continue our eight year partnership with Sonic Foundry for our hybrid events," said Julie Little, Vice President, Teaching, Learning and Professional Development for EDUCAUSE.

An EDUCAUSE Platinum Partner and event webcasting provider since 2005, Mediasite by Sonic Foundry is a leading webcasting platform for hybrid events and lecture capture. Trusted by more than 950 colleges and universities, the patented Mediasite webcasting and content management system quickly and cost-effectively automates the capture, management, delivery and search of rich media presentations that combine audio, video and accompanying graphics for live or on-demand viewing.
