Elemental Named Technology Leader in Global Video Market by Frost & Sullivan

Company sets new standard for vendors in the encoding and transcoding industry

PORTLAND, Ore.(09 Dec 2014)

Elemental Technologies, the leading supplier of software-defined video solutions for multiscreen content delivery, today announced that it has received the Technology Leadership Award in the Global Video Encoding and Transcoding Market from Frost & Sullivan.

"Elemental, with its strong growth and focus on innovation, is a clear leader in the market, the fastest growing video processing company worldwide, and is solving urgent and critical industry needs," said Avni Rambhia, industry principal, digital media, Frost & Sullivan. "In this highly competitive industry, companies are struggling to maximize quality of online content, monetize it, and keep pace with rapid technology advances. Software-upgradable and configurable products that don't lock customers into proprietary hardware are growing in importance. It is here that Elemental has made its mark."

Based on its research across the overall encoding-transcoding market, Frost & Sullivan concluded that Elemental's original GPU-accelerated approach and subsequent software-centric innovations that are agnostic to underlying off-the-shelf processors have elevated the industry to a new level of enablement. Earlier this year, ABI Research and SNL Kagan recognized Elemental as the video processing market leader.

In its report, Frost & Sullivan cited Elemental's continuous commitment to innovation over the past eight years, starting with the company's early recognition of AVC and HLS delivery with a high-density, file-based transcoding product and now with software-defined video and cloud deployment solutions. In addition to innovation, Frost & Sullivan cited Elemental's revenue growth, commercial success, application diversity and global expansion. The company has more than 500 customers and has maintained a steady stream of wins worldwide, both in traditional multiscreen applications and emerging 4K HEVC use cases.

"It is important to note that in an industry where customer loyalty is low and operators often switch vendors at each upgrade cycle, Elemental has seen high customer retention rates due to its ongoing innovation and differentiation. This bodes well for the company's continued growth potential, as does its expanding sphere of application," said Rambhia.

Frost & Sullivan also recognized Elemental Delta, a new platform for video delivery that takes Elemental beyond its traditional transcoding focus toward a complete solution for real-time content delivery, dynamic ad insertion, time-shifted TV services and live-to-VOD applications. The platform has already been adopted globally, including Microsoft Xbox Live, SFR and Turner's new CNNGo service.

"We are highly honored by this award and are thankful to Frost & Sullivan for the recognition as it continues to stay abreast of the latest trends in the video market," said Keith Wymbs, chief marketing officer for Elemental. "Our customers inspire us every day with their vision, aspirations and challenges. We are committed to delivering the innovative technologies they require to take advantage of the unprecedented changes occurring in the video industry."
