Fanfoot, Soccer’s First Social Over-The-Top Streaming Service, Launches With $150M Acquisition of Media Rights for Brazil’s Premier Soccer League

New sports tech company combines live streaming experience and social media in one platform; owns global distribution for Brazilian National Championship media

ORLANDO, FL(09 Oct 2018)

New sports technology startup, Fanfoot, launches today with the $150 million acquisition of the global media rights (digital, broadcast and stadium) for the Brazilian National Championship. Currently designed for soccer, the platform is the first in sports to combine the popularity and growing preference of live streaming with a built-in online social community across any device.

Fanfoot is owned by Futbol Holdings, which is a joint venture started by FanHero, an Orlando-based social-video technology company, and BR Foot Sports Media, a Brazilian sports rights and management company.

The renowned soccer league’s fans will be the first to experience the season unlike any other. Fanfoot is a social video platform delivering high-quality video, engagement opportunities, unique content, special promotions and more, all in one app:

  • Games will be exclusively livestreamed in the app

  • Fans can interact with each other in live chats and the league through newsfeeds and social features

  • HD quality livestreams and other video content is provided with options like casting, picture-in-picture (PIP) viewing, and playbacks

  • Gamification allows for fans to compete for leaderboard spots and special rewards

“We are offering soccer fans and leagues a one-stop-shop for building community and enjoying one of the world’s most beloved sports,” said Humberto Farias, partner of Fanfoot. “Our vision is to be the Netflix of soccer for all leagues in the sport to use the platform and create a compelling experience for new and veteran fans alike, whether it is during a game or in the off-season. We are thrilled to launch with a top 10 league that is followed closely by soccer fans from around the world and who is able to embrace this opportunity with us.”

Fanfoot stands to impact millions of consumers, offering soccer fans an experience other sports do not currently offer. Soccer presents massive numbers of interest around the globe, with 46 percent of the global population demonstrating interest in the sport and 20 percent participating in soccer-related activities. Soccer is the most popular sport on Instagram and Facebook, bringing in three times more fans than the second most popular, basketball. Lastly, of the top 10 largest TV broadcasting rights in sports, soccer leagues attract the most media rights money among all sports.

Fanfoot will launch to fans in early 2019.
