NASHVILLE, Tenn(16 Dec 2024)

Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Get After It Media is thrilled to announce a partnership with FAST Channels TV to officially launch a new channel dedicated to the long beloved original hospital soap opera, The Doctors. Set in Hope Memorial Hospital in the fictional New England city of Madison, The Doctors follows the hospital's Chief of Staff Dr. Matthew Powers (James Pritchett) and his dedicated team. The soap opera ran for 19 years, spanned 5,280 episodes, and won several Daytime Emmy Awards including Outstanding Drama Series (1971, 1972 and 1974), Lead Actor (James Pritchett, 1978), and Lead Actress (Elizabeth Hubbard, 1974).

On the new channel, available now on Watchie TV (select “watch now”), Roku, Android and Android TV, Amazon FIRE, ios and Apple TV, and more, six-hour strips featuring 12 episodes of the series will air each day, giving soap opera fans peak binge-viewing opportunities.

”Since Retro TV originally brought The Doctors back to the airwaves in 2014, its dedicated fan base has been begging for us to air even more episodes. We’re so pleased to partner with FAST Channels TV to answer that call, allowing soap fanatics to binge such a historic series to their hearts’ content,” said Joel Wertman, president of Get After It Media.

Russell Foy, CEO of FAST Channels TV, shared his excitement about the partnership, saying, "Bringing the FAST-based version of The Doctors to life allows us to make this iconic soap opera accessible to millions of devoted fans. Collaborating with the Get After It Media team has been an absolute pleasure, and we’re thrilled to continue working together to launch even more FAST channels featuring their exceptional lineup of premium retro content."

The Doctors’ groundbreaking and often ahead-of-their-time storylines are back and being embraced by a whole new generation. During the series’ iconic run, several well-known actors passed through the halls of Hope Memorial including Academy Award nominee Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), Academy Award winner Kathy Bates (Misery), Academy Award winner Ellen Burstyn (The Exorcist), Emmy Award winner Ted Danson (Cheers), Emmy Award winner Terry O'Quinn (Lost), and Academy Award nominee Kathleen Turner (Peggy Sue Got Married).
