Haivision Announces the KB Max Portable 4K Video Encoder at NAB 2018
New small form factor delivers unprecedented encoding density for delivering adaptive bitrate streams up to 4K UHD on an Intel platform
Las Vegas - NAB 2018(10 Apr 2018)
Haivision, a market leader in video networking and streaming solutions, today announced a new video streaming appliance in the KB Series, the KB Max portable video encoder for 4K UHD, 360 VR and HD internet streaming at NAB 2018.
The KB Max is a high quality, small form factor 4K UHD streaming appliance with hardware accelerated encoding, supporting up to 4K UHD 2160p H.264/HEVC. The KB Max is ideal for 4K 360-degree virtual reality streaming for on-the-go live events and non permanent installations. Packing maximum power into a small box, KB Max reduces the need for cloud transcoding by encoding full adaptive bitrate cascades in HEVC or H.264, or it can send high-quality single bitrate streams up to 4K UHD to all major platforms for cloud transcoding and delivery.
“The KB Max is the most powerful encoding platform for live event streaming,” said Peter Maag, chief marketing officer, Haivision. “The revolutionary form factor leverages software and hardware-based encoding to achieve the optimal balance of processing power for the toughest streaming events.”
The KB Series of H.264 and HEVC Internet Media Encoders/Transcoders offers high-quality options for live event streaming, helping you deliver the highest quality live video to global internet audiences. The KB Series is available in four appliance options:
- KB Mini: Portable HD H.264/HEVC live ABR encoder/transcoder.
- KB Max: Portable 4K UHD or Quad HD H.264/HEVC live ABR encoder/transcoder.
- KB Server: Up to Quad HD H.264/HEVC live ABR encoding/transcoding rack mount server.
- KB 4K Server: 4K UHD or Quad HD H.264/HEVC live ABR encoding/transcoding rack mount server.
The KB Series has been tested and certified by a number of cloud service providers, online video platforms and CDNs, including Akamai, Microsoft Azure Media Services, Brightcove, Facebook Live, Haivision Video Cloud, Level 3, Limelight, Wowza, Workplace by Facebook and YouTube Live.
At NAB 2018 Haivision will demonstrate the KB Max and KB Series at the Renaissance Hotel (booth Ren Deluxe F), just outside the South Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center. To learn more about Haivision at NAB 2018 and to book a demonstration, visit the registration page.
