Haivision Expands Award-Winning Makito Series of Ultra-Low Latency 4K Video Encoders

Haivision Makito FX and cost-effective Makito X4 single-channel encoders offer broadcasters more flexibility and choice for high performance and secure 4K encoding

Montreal, Canada(13 Apr 2023)

Haivision (TSX: HAI), a leading global provider of mission-critical, real-time video networking and visual collaboration solutions, today announced the expansion of its award-winning Makito series of encoding solutions with the introduction of the single-channel Makito X4, an ultra-low latency, 4K video encoder to its product line.

The new addition to the portfolio offers all the powerful features of the widely adopted Makito X4 quad channel encoder in a single HD/UHD channel configuration. Built to address the evolving needs of broadcasters looking to do more with less, the new single-channel Makito X4 offers a new level of price performance at just $6,000 USD.

Designed for the most demanding broadcast applications, including live sports and news, the single-channel Makito X4 can encode 4K, HD, and SD at up to full 2160p50/60 4K UHD or 1080p50/60 HD video sources with 4:2:2 10-bit H.264/AVC and H.265/HEVC compression up to eight channels of digital audio and includes native support for SRT and SMPTE ST 2110.

Additionally, the new Makito FX provides broadcasters peace of mind for field deployments thanks to its compact form factor and fanless operation. With both SDI and HDMI inputs, users have the flexibility of working with different video sources and can leverage ultra-low latency encoding at up to 4K UHDp60.

“Recognized for its high-quality, low latency, and reliability, our Makito family of video encoders and decoders is trusted and relied upon by the world’s leading broadcasters to power their workflows,” said Jean-Marc Racine, Chief Product Officer, Haivision. “With the addition of the Makito FX and now the new Makito X4 single channel to the series, we continue to add high-demand products to our portfolio, unlocking even more value for our customers.”
