Envivio Multi-Profile Encoder Provides Live and On-Demand Video Anytime, Anywhere
South San Francisco(27 Feb 2012)
Envivio, a leading provider of live and on-demand multi-screen IP video processing and delivery solutions, today announced a new deployment with Maxcom, a leading integrated telecommunication services operator in Mexico. Maxcom selected Envivio’s 4Caster™ C4 Gen III encoders to power Yuzu, its new live and on-demand over-the-top (OTT) streaming service. Yuzu currently offers 24 live channels and 1,300 on-demand assets to PCs, Macs, iPads and iPhones. Maxcom plans to nearly double the number of channels and video-on-demand (VOD) assets by the end of this year.
Envivio offers the industry’s leading encoding/transcoding solutions developed specifically for multi-screen delivery. The versatile 1-RU 4Caster platform performs a variety of functions including: multi-profile encoding, transcoding, packaging, encryption and publishing within a single system that delivers broadcast-quality TV, HTTP streaming and 3GPP mobile video. The Envivio Muse™ software on the 4Caster platform allows Maxcom to easily add support for new devices and formats as they expand their services.
“We wanted to provide our subscribers access to their favorite TV programs anytime, anywhere, on their favorite devices without limitation,” said Ricardo Ortiz Ramírez, Yuzu Director. “With the 4Caster encoders, Envivio delivers a high quality solution that supports the formats and end-user devices we need. The Envivio solution makes it possible for us to expand our IPTV service in new geographic areas with OTT delivery, optimizes our CAPEX investment, and is a future-ready architecture that can scale as the Yuzu service expands.”
“Collaborating with Yuzu to provide VOD and linear channels for subscribers across Mexico demonstrates our leadership in enabling new TV services that address changing consumer viewing patterns,” said Julien Signès, Envivio’s president and CEO. “Yuzu subscribers can now enjoy premium content on mobile devices, and Maxcom can offer more advanced services while also having the ability to address future opportunities.”
Envivio now serves more than 250 customers in 57 countries. Every day, Envivio encoders ingest more than 16,000 live IPTV, Internet TV and Mobile TV channels and process more than 34,000 unique streams serving tens of millions of viewers.
