Media Networks Selects PeerApp to Ensure Quality of Experience for Broadband Subscribers
Telefonica Digital B2B Unit Implements Caching Infrastructure for Broadband Service Across Latin America
Newton, MA(20 Jan 2014)
PeerApp, the leader in Internet content caching infrastructure, has been selected by Media Networks Latin America, a B2B unit of Telefonica Digital, to implement its UltraBand caching system across the company's Latin America Satellite Broadband Internet access network. With PeerApp caching, a solution integrated by Telefónica Empresas, Media Networks will enhance its subscribers' quality of experience (QoE) by improving the delivery of Internet video and web content.
Consumers are increasingly accessing their entertainment and information over the Internet, because of the flexibility that Internet-delivered content affords in terms of content selection, user device selection and social interaction. PeerApp's UltraBand platform allows Telefónica Media Networks to deliver all types of content with improved quality. UltraBand does this by storing and serving the most requested Internet content from the edge of the network.
"We offer wholesale satellite residential broadband service to operators in Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru," said Fernando Blácido, ISAT Technical Manager of Media Networks. "With UltraBand we can ensure that the most popular content will be delivered at the advertised speed of our service. PeerApp caching is enabling us to fully leverage our larger infrastructure investments."
PeerApp UltraBand is the only caching solution that supports video, HTTP file downloads, software updates and peer-to-peer traffic in a single platform. It is the most scalable platform in the industry, and it is fully transparent to preserve application logic and ensure freshness of content.
"Quality of experience is core to the brand differentiation of a global communications provider like Telefónica," said Grigory Parra Vorobiov, PeerApp vice president of sales for Latin America. "By implementing PeerApp's multi-service caching infrastructure they are ensuring quality delivery of a wide variety of popular video and web content."
