Mirada and Edgeware Partner for Worldwide Multiscreen Delivery

Joint solution cuts cost and time to market for high-quality TV everywhere services

Stockholm(19 Nov 2014)

Edgeware, the technology leader in distributed video delivery, today announces its partnership with Mirada, AIM-quoted audiovisual technology supplier, to provide an end-to-end multiscreen solution that significantly reduces costs and time to market for pay TV operators regardless of network type. The joint solution is already enabling four leading operators in Brazil, Mexico and Spain to rapidly add and scale new attractive services with a superior user experience, without the need for massive network infrastructure investments.

The Edgeware Video Consolidation Platform (VCP) is fully integrated with Mirada's flagship product, Iris, which provides an intuitive, unified user experience across multiple devices, including set-top boxes (STBs), computers, smartphones and tablets. Mirada’s Iris platform offers two innovative and feature rich user interfaces (UIs), Origin UI and Inspire UI, combined with a smart back-office system, Iris Service Delivery Platform (SDP). Iris enables pay TV operators to offer a wide range of high-quality services including video on demand (VOD), catch-up TV and cloud DVR with a customized visual experience tailored to the unique features of each device.

“At Mirada, we build our products around the best possible user experience for viewers,” said Jose Luis Vazquez, group CEO at Mirada. “This is precisely why we partnered with Edgeware. With the VCP, we enable our customers to deliver the multiscreen services their customers demand at the quality they expect, enabling them to maintain a competitive edge in today’s rapidly changing market.”

“Our joint customer wins in Latin America and Spain are only the first of many opportunities with Mirada,” said Joachim Roos, CEO at Edgeware. “The combined strengths of Mirada’s consumer-centric UIs and back-office products and our highly flexible and scalable delivery architecture, create a solution that directly addresses the needs of TV and video operators around the globe.”

Edgeware’s VCP is a single, consolidated platform that dramatically reduces the high infrastructure costs associated with the delivery of TV and video services to both STBs and multiscreen devices. By enabling operators to efficiently deliver new and current services at massive scale to all device types, without having to manage duplicate, siloed delivery networks, it reduces capex by at least 50 percent. The VCP builds on Edgeware’s widely deployed Distributed Video Delivery Network (D-VDN) solution, which provides more than 10 million viewers worldwide with best-in-class caching and streaming.

Mirada’s state-of-the-art TV everywhere digital ecosystem, Iris, is a fusion of traditional broadcasting and internet-based services. The solution is easy to deploy with an excellent time to market, and enables digital TV (DTV) operators and broadcasters to provide their subscribers with a seamless experience across multiple devices. Inspire UI is a feature-rich user interface created according to the real-user behavior and needs. With features such as innovative content discovery, smart content search and a personalized recommendation system, along with audience metrics and more, Mirada’s clients are able to increase their benefits and strengthen their position by offering a highly competitive product to their target markets.
