In conjunction with the kick-off of the 2012 NFL season, Sorenson Media today announced that more than half of the NFL’s 32 teams use Sorenson Squeeze, the global gold-standard video encoding software, for a wide array of online video footage.
As one example, the Carolina Panthers use Sorenson Squeeze to encode and deliver a full range of streaming online video content on the team’s Panthers.com website, including: The Panthers Insider, a daily news report on the team; the weekly Panthers Huddle; footage and interviews from games and practices; and a wide variety of fan-facing content. Currently the Panthers produce and distribute more than 20 videos per week throughout the playing season.
Producing top-quality video for online distribution has become increasingly important for the team, said Mike Craft, senior producer of broadcasting and media content for the Panthers. Over the past several years, web-based content has supplanted broadcast to the extent that 90 percent of Craft’s time is now spent on online content.
