National Association of Broadcasters Selects Highwinds to Stream "NAB Show Live"

Highwinds' CDN Leveraged for Third Consecutive Year for Delivery of All Live and On-Demand Video from the 2011 NAB Show

Winter Park, Fla.(11 Apr 2011)

Highwinds, a leader in content delivery, network and IP services, today announced that the National Association of Broadcasters has selected its content delivery network (CDN) for the third consecutive year to deliver video from the 2011 NAB Show taking place this week in Las Vegas.  Live video will be streamed from the event to online audiences over Highwinds' CDN during the new "NAB Show Live" - a live broadcast that will air daily at 4:30 p.m. today through Thursday at the NAB Show web site, www.nabshow.com.  The show will feature interviews, editorial coverage of the conference and exhibits, and show highlights.  As in prior years, Highwinds' CDN will also be leveraged for all on-demand video delivery during and after the NAB Show.

"Year after year, we lean heavily on Highwinds to create an easy workflow for our onsite staff to upload and deliver video from the NAB Show.  And this year Highwinds is helping us enhance the experience for our online audience by delivering live video for the first time," said Donna Russell, director of Convention Marketing for NAB.  "We saw substantial growth in online viewership from 2009 to 2010, and with the addition of daily live broadcasts this year, our expectation is that the number of viewers and total viewing times will rise even more dramatically.

Highwinds is working closely with Digital Rapids, who is providing their Transcode Manager software for the production of on-demand content and their TouchStream portable live streaming appliance for encoding of the live webcasts, all of which will be delivered globally through the Highwinds CDN.  Last year, NAB introduced new video features, such as the "War on the Floor" scavenger hunt, a series NAB is repeating this year, as well as expanded video coverage and features.  This year, the introduction of "NAB Show Live" provides greater editorial coverage of the show during a daily broadcast.

"With their fingers on the pulse of digital media, it made sense for NAB to kick their 2011 show coverage up a notch with live online video streams," said Steve Liddell, president of Content Delivery and Network Services for Highwinds.  "We are excited to be working with NAB again this year, and we enjoy supporting new and exciting online initiatives each year of the show."

The NAB Show is the world's largest electronic media show, bringing together nearly 90,000 attendees from 151 countries and more than 1,500 exhibitors.  To schedule a meeting with Highwinds this week at the 2011 NAB Show, please send your request to info@highwinds.com.
