Ramp and TalkPoint Announce Technology Integration
Combined solution streamlines live event multicasting for enterprise communications
Boston, MA(18 May 2017)
Ramp, the leading provider of next-generation enterprise video delivery solutions for large enterprises, and TalkPoint, a leading provider of webcasting software and services, announced today a new technology integration proven to optimize the delivery of video broadcasts to viewers inside the enterprise.
TalkPoint’s self-service webcasting platform, Convey, is a cloud-based solution that allows enterprise communicators to self-manage webcasts for audiences of up to 10,000 viewers or more. Broadcasting to large audiences inside the enterprise is a powerful form of communication. In bandwidth-limited environments, companies can benefit from optimizing video streams associated with webcasts. Multicast is a bandwidth-conserving, one-to-many network protocol that alleviates network congestion by distributing a single video stream shared simultaneously by multiple viewers. TalkPoint’s integration with AltitudeCDN™ Multicast+ from Ramp allows broadcasters to multicast events simply by selecting Ramp in the TalkPoint event management interface. The integration provides customers with a seamless solution that efficiently delivers high-quality live video streaming across the enterprise without overloading or degrading network resources.
“As companies discover how easy webcasting is with Convey, adoption for both internal and external communications continues to grow. If our customers’ bandwidth is limited, it is critical to have solutions like Ramp to optimize video traffic,” said Dan Ingvoldstad, VP of Sales Engineering at TalkPoint. “Our integration with Ramp solutions minimizes the impact on internal networks and allows our customers to confidently rely on webcasting for effective employee communications.”
AltitudeCDN Multicast+ is a software-based solution that can be deployed on existing network infrastructure, making it an affordable and scalable alternative to proprietary WAN optimization solutions or expensive network upgrades. The only standards-based multicast solution for HLS and DASH, Multicast+ does not require a custom video player and is a highly-sought solution for companies still relying on unsupported multicast products from Microsoft and Cisco or Flash-based solutions.
“The combined TalkPoint and Ramp solution works perfectly for us,” said Mick D’Angelo, Senior Systems Administrator, Unified Communications at BMC Software. “For the first time we have the level of detailed diagnostics and reporting we need to monitor and evaluate the performance and effectiveness of our webcasts. We saw double the number of employees view our last event compared to the one prior and we expect this trend to continue. Even though the deployment was transparent to our end users, they have reported a much improved viewing experience and are more committed to tuning in to webcasts as a result.”
“We are pleased to be partnering with TalkPoint to provide a solution that enables successful webcasting for enterprises of all sizes,” said Tom Racca, CEO of Ramp. “As companies continue to rely more and more on video to communicate effectively with large audiences inside the organization, we offer a simple infrastructure to ensure the message reaches everyone.”
The integrated solution from TalkPoint and Ramp is available today.
