Sonic Foundry Opens Registration for Unleash 2014 —The Premier Education and Networking Event for Mediasite Users

Annual conference in Madison, Wis. attracts video, online learning and webcasting experts worldwide to share expertise and strategies

Madison, Wisconsin(24 Sep 2013)

Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), the trusted leader for video content management and webcasting solutions, today announced its annual Mediasite User Conference, Unleash, will take place April 27 to 30, 2014 in Madison, Wis.

The event, held at the landmark Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center, is the single best opportunity for Mediasite Enterprise Video Platform enthusiasts, novices and experts to collaborate, learn, inspire and push the boundaries of campus and enterprise video. With video creation and consumption exploding on campus and in the enterprise, attendees will collect a wealth of business-changing ideas for their Mediasite implementations during customer presentations, interactive breakouts, training classes and collaborative sessions.

Last year’s conference saw record attendance with attendees travelling to Madison from 35 states, Puerto Rico and 14 countries. Leveraging the Mediasite webcasting platform, Unleash will be offered as a hybrid event, a simultaneous mix of face-to-face and virtual experiences that broadens the conference reach to those unable to attend in Madison. Last year, Unleash had nearly 20 percent participation online via live interactive Mediasite webcasts and social networking opportunities.

Long-time Unleash attendee Todd Hutchings of Ontario Hospital Association said Unleash is “unlike any other conference you will attend.”

“Everyone who participates is eager to know how other attendees are using Mediasite and equally willing to share their success stories and user experiences,” Hutchings said. “When you get to Unleash, I guarantee someone will be happy to share their experience or point you to someone with a similar challenge.”

Unleash 2014 will also celebrate the 10th annual Rich Media Impact Awards, recognizing excellence in the practical and creative integration of Mediasite in business, education, health and government. This year’s winners will join the more than 150 organizations from around the world that have been honored for video success. The call for nominations will open next month.

Ralph Welsh, Clemson University professor in the College of Health, Education and Human Development and a 2013 Rich Media Impact Award winner, attended Unleash for the first time during the 2013 conference.

“I’ve always been a traditionalist — a lecturing professor with students listening and taking notes. But a few years ago I started experimenting with technology in my classroom and flipping my classes with Mediasite,” Welsh said. “I’ve seen a 25 to 50 percent increase in the number of courses I can offer with this new methodology. I attended Unleash to learn other ways I can incorporate video into the classroom to increase student satisfaction and success and meet the interest of the new generation of learners.”

Watch the video recap and session highlights from Unleash 2013 for a flavor of what awaits. For the best Unleash 2014 rates, take advantage of the fall promotion – register by Oct. 31 for only $495 (regularly $995). Registration for Unleash Online opens Nov. 1, and the Unleash 2014 call for speakers opens in November.

“You won’t find a larger gathering of Mediasite users anywhere in the world. It’s the best place to network with video pioneers and share best practices. It’s our favorite time of year, because we get to hear first-hand from our customers what they’re looking for next from Mediasite,” said Gary Weis, Sonic Foundry’s chief executive officer. “Attendees will leave the conference better equipped to enhance their video strategies and grow their Mediasite implementations.”

Trusted by more than 2,600 customers worldwide in education, business and government, the Mediasite webcasting and video content management system quickly and cost-effectively automates the capture, management, delivery and search of live and on-demand streaming videos and rich video presentations.
