Stage Ten Announces Public Launch Of Enterprise Social Broadcasting Platform After “Groundbreaking” 48-hour Charity Livestream Success

Stage Ten delivers the core capabilities of a live production studio and control room in a simple web application allowing anyone to transform their social media properties into social TV channels.

Toronto, ON(08 Feb 2018)

Canadian startup Stage Ten today announces the launch of its social broadcasting platform for enterprise creators following a hugely successful collaboration with the Vlogbrothers’ Project for Awesome, a 48-hour stream-a-thon, which raised over $2 million USD for charity.

Stage Ten is a social video production, distribution, and engagement platform for amateur and professional creators who want to easily produce high-quality interactive OTT content. The launch of this platform will allow enterprise media companies to expand their social broadcast production and distribution capacity, without the significant expense of production studios and large production crews.

By teaming up with the Vlogbrothers, Stage Ten’s platform has proven ready for prime time. The groundbreaking Project for Awesome YouTube broadcast, powered by Stage Ten, was managed by six directors in different locations, who each took turns producing the show. Over 40 hosts and guests participated in the live stream from around the world, using Stage Ten Connect, a web application designed to easily capture live video and enable audience participation in live broadcasts.

“The success of the Project for Awesome broadcast was the culmination of years of intense R&D to create a platform that is simple enough for all creators to use, but robust enough to support established media companies as they shift resources to produce more social OTT content for platforms like Facebook Watch, YouTube, Twitter and Twitch,” said Dave Lazar, founder and CEO of Stage Ten. “I am extremely proud of our team and grateful to the Vlogbrothers, Hank and John Green, for choosing to partner with us on a project that is truly making a positive impact on the world.”

Professional live show production is complicated and expensive. Broadcast studios typically  cost millions of dollars to operate, and require large teams of technically trained experts to staff. However, by simplifying the process and reducing the cost of producing broadcast-quality social video, Stage Ten’s technology is positioned to transform a large and growing portion of the $570 billion market for content production, aggregation and distribution.

“In the past we have used many different strategies for live streaming and we found Stage Ten to be the best partner we have ever had,” said John Green, New York Times bestselling author, co-founder and star of the Vlogbrothers and Project for Awesome. “They integrate with YouTube. You can manage the livestream without being in the livestream yourself. It’s easy to have guests come and go, and the graphic assets were amazing.”

“I feel like I am on CNN,” remarked a broadcast guest, midway through the event.

Over the past couple years, numerous organizations have launched new social OTT programs such as HQ, Live.ly, and Cheddar TV. 2018 will surely be characterized by many more exciting, interactive, and social shows. Given its recent success with the Vlogbrothers, STAGE TEN is poised to be the driving force behind the next wave of social OTT hits.
