Streaming Video Alliance Convenes at Fox Studios in Hollywood to Define the Future of Online Video and Celebrate Alliance's One-Year Anniversary

Keynote to Feature David Wertheimer, President, Digital, FOX Broadcasting Company; Alliance Welcomes New Members, Including NBCUniversal

CENTURY CITY, CA(20 Nov 2015)

The Streaming Video Alliance (SVA), an industry forum comprised of leading companies from the online video ecosystem, today convenes at the historic Fox Studios in Hollywood for its quarterly member meeting. The SVA is also celebrating its one-year anniversary and welcoming new members Concurrent, Encompass Digital Media, IneoQuest, Mobolize, NBCUniversal, Verimatrix and Vubiquity to the Alliance.

Hollywood has long been the epicenter of inspiring achievement and groundbreaking technical innovation for the entertainment industry, making it the ideal location for the SVA's largest and most important meeting since its inception in November 2014. In just one year alone, nearly 40 members have joined the movement -- including Comcast, Fox Networks, MLB Advanced Media, Sky, Time Warner Cable and Verizon -- and made substantial progress on the Alliance's agenda to define the open architecture that will be the foundation for the next generation of streaming video.

Highlights from the General Member Meeting will include:
  • Keynote by David Wertheimer, President, Digital, FOX Broadcasting Company -- Wertheimer has a long history in digital entertainment, previously serving as the President of Paramount Digital Entertainment and as the CEO of USC's Entertainment Technology Center. He works with top executives across the FOX organization to share best practices and build new digital platforms.
  • Working group sessions -- The majority of the day's schedule will be dedicated to working groups, which will break into separate sessions to establish next steps and continue progress on their respective topics.
  • FOX Sports Studio tour -- FOX has created some of the biggest shows in entertainment, and SVA members will get the opportunity to experience the FOX magic firsthand with a studio tour of the FOX Sports set.
  • Networking reception -- The day will conclude with a reception in the iconic Fox Commissary Dining Room, where members can mingle while admiring the floor-to-ceiling 1920's mural and Academy Awards on display.
"The Streaming Video Alliance offers tremendous potential for improving the quality of online video. As a member, IneoQuest's wealth of experience in video service assurance and quality measurement can be leveraged to drive higher quality into proposed architectures and solutions," said Stuart Newton, Vice President of Corporate Strategy at IneoQuest. "We're passionate about being part of this future-looking and proactive group, and the opportunity to collaboratively evolve online video quality to unprecedented levels."

"As a leading provider of open-source and licensed content delivery solutions to the video services marketplace, Concurrent is committed to advancing the quality, reliability and efficiency of online video streaming," said James Brickmeier, Chief Marketing Officer at Concurrent. "We are excited to join the Streaming Video Alliance and collaborate with other thought-leaders in the video community on how we can better manage the growing demand for online content through open architectures."

Since the SVA's founding in late 2014, membership has more than doubled. The SVA's full list of members now includes: Alcatel-Lucent, Beamr, CableLabs, Cedexis, Charter Communications, Cisco, Comcast, Conviva, Concurrent, Encompass Digital Media, EPIX, Ericsson, Fox Networks, IneoQuest, Intel, Irdeto, Korea Telecom, Level 3 Communications, Liberty Global, Limelight Networks, MLB Advanced Media, Mobolize, NBCUniversal, NeuLion, Nominum, PeerApp, Qwilt, Sky, Telecom Italia, Telstra, Time Warner Cable, Ustream, Verimatrix, Verizon, Vubiquity, Wowza Media Systems and Yahoo!.
