Strength Of ObjectVideo Metadata Patent Confirmed By U.S. Patent Office

ObjectVideo's '923 Patent successfully emerges from Patent Office Reexamination; First of two seminal ObjectVideo metadata patents in Reexam to pass review.

RESTON, Va.(03 Jun 2014)

ObjectVideo, Inc., a leading provider of video analytics solutions, announced today that the first of two of its seminal metadata patents undergoing Reexamination successfully emerged after review by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office ("USPTO").

ObjectVideo received a USPTO Ex Parte Reexamination Certificate ("Certificate") for U.S. Patent Number 7,932,923 (the '923 Patent).  Issuance of the Certificate signifies the end of the reexamination.  Forty-one claims issued as a result of the reexamination proceeding.

ObjectVideo previously sued several companies for patent infringement in the United States International Trade Commission and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.  All prior art identified in those proceedings, as well as additional prior art, was considered by the USPTO during the reexamination proceeding.

"We are very pleased that the USPTO terminated the reexamination of the '923 Patent. The validity of this patent has been probed and confirmed in our litigations and now again at the USPTO," said Raul Fernandez, Chairman and CEO of ObjectVideo.  "We are pleased that the validity of this seminal patent is now reconfirmed, and we will continue to pursue our successful licensing program that has resulted in 18 patent licenses to date."
