Ipswich(29 Jan 2016)

Suitcase TV, a leader in media asset management will be at BVE 2016 where the company will be at stand F34 for the launch of MediaStor, the company’s proven and trusted storage platform, which is available for the first time as a stand-alone product; and iphrame Vision Remote, a centralised production system that received the IABM Design & Innovation Award at IBC last year.

MediaStor
Flexible, secure, and scalable, MediaStor is a mature and capable software defined storage platform designed specifically for broadcast media operations. MediaStor aggregates multiple storage servers into a single unified structure and includes optional HSM functions to enable use of different levels of storage from ultra-fast SSD-based RAID down to LTO data tape. Existing 3rd party storage hardware as well as a range of broadcast video servers can also be incorporated into the MediaStor file system providing tracking and auditing of file histories and powerful metadata handling capabilities to empower even the most complex of broadcast workflows.

The latest version of MediaStor adds support for archiving to spinning disk using new SMR disk technology combined with MAID architectures to provide low cost, low power storage with fast access. The new MediaStor Archive enclosure provides up to 128TB of usable in a 1RU enclose with only an idle power consumption of only 10W. Additional enclosures can be easily added as storage requirements increase.

In addition to managing storage, every MediaStor server can offer resources to perform media related tasks. Unlike other storage platforms which may be built upon proprietary or Linux based operating systems, MediaStor is built upon Microsoft Windows, significantly simplifying integrations with 3rd party processing and file transfer software.

Fraser Jardine, commercial director at Suitcase TV comments: “Existing Suitcase TV customers will be familiar with MediaStor as an outstanding media asset storage platform, which is trusted by major broadcast companies. Now, for the first time, and in response to customer feedback, we are launching MediaStor as a standalone product capable of multi-tier storage.”

Iphrame Vision Remote
Iphrame Vision Remote is part of the iphrame suite; a range of software based solutions enabling combined SDI and IP-based operations. The solution facilitates the centralised production of outside broadcasts and other live events, and enables broadcasters to significantly reduce their costs by allowing key personnel to operate the system from virtually any location where there is an internet connection. Additional cost savings can be achieved because of the reduction in travel and transport costs of personnel and equipment. Only the cameras and associated technical teams need to be deployed on-site.

Ed Calverley, VP products at Suitcase TV comments: “One of the reasons we won the IABM Award was because the judging panel could see the huge savings that the end-user could expect. We want to tell people more about this and about the dramatic impact our solutions will have on the way they work.”

Suitcase TV will be at BVE at stand F34. To arrange a meeting, delegates can either email bve2016@suitcasetv.com or call 01473 258251.
