TAG Rings in 2022 with Record-Setting 100,000+ Monitoring Points Deployed Worldwide
Milestone marks a 100% increase over previous year and joins launch of Media Control System as a Company achievement
Tel Aviv – January 6, 2022 – TAG Video Systems, the leader in realtime software-based deep monitoring of IP linear video workflows, has announced that it has exceeded 100,000 monitoring points deployed globally. Kevin Joyce, TAG’s Zer0 Friction Officer, revealed the milestone as he recapped the Company’s 2021 achievements which also include the launch of its Media Control System (MCS) developed to help clients manage, analyze and improve their media workflows.
“TAG has been marking milestones in the industry since 2008 when we introduced the world to the first IP-based, all software monitoring and multiviewer solution, a risky and bold move at the time,” said Joyce. “Now nearly fourteen years later, the market has fully embraced IP, software-based workflows which nicely positions TAG to help our customers transition to IP workflows, adjust to remote operations, and expand their OTT services as the industry quickly evolves with the unexpected challenges brought on by the continuing pandemic."
Joyce credits TAG’s 100% increase in points probed and monitored during 2021 to the company’s capacity to work with all workflows, support emerging protocols as fast as they hit the market, and its ability to enable customers to operate in the cloud. As OTT grew exponentially, and with it a proliferation of delivery formats, TAG was at the forefront, innovating at high speed and developing significant support for cloud enabling remote production tools required and requested by customers, including JPEG XS, NDI 5, Dolby ATMOS, SRT, AWS Cloud Digital Interface (CDI), and Amazon EC2 M6i instances.
Joyce explained, “Because of the explosion in streaming and adaption of cloud technologies, every linear channel may have up to 16 different flavors that need to be monitored. Workflows must be deployed in multiple zones around the globe with multiple bit rates for different resolutions to accommodate differing bandwidths. TAG’s ability to anticipate and innovate quickly gave us a wide footprint in all new and emerging sources which allowed streaming services to work reliably and efficiently, a real necessity in today’s direct to consumer world.“
Adding to the Company’s 2021 success story is TAG’s move to give customers the tools they need to improve operations through data driven workflows via the Company’s newly launched Media Control System (MCS). The MCS is a groundbreaking, open-source paradigm that monitors, aggregates, manages and utilizes data-driven viewer analytics to provide users with the insight required to build performant linear media systems. The MCS is unique in its ability to provide the tools users need for informed and intelligent decision making resulting in a precise and pristine viewer experience that leads to an increase in consumption, elevated customer engagement, and heightened loyalty.
The foundation of the MCS is TAG’s MCM (Multi-Channel Monitoring) that monitors every type of signal from live production through OTT delivery. The MCS collects the voluminous raw data and metrics from the MCM using the power of the cloud to create actionable insights. Using an open-source paradigm, the MCS serves as an aggregation engine capable of exposing that data to standard third party analytic and visualization applications such as Elasticsearch, Kibana, Grafana and Prometheus. For the first time, media companies can use their metrics to measure performance across all their signals to correlate, identify and recover from errors, optimize workloads for maximum performance, and help transmit interoperable signals. With TAG’s MCS, customers will be able to deliver an exceptional viewer experience that can be validated and measured.
The MCS also strengthens TAG’s Zer0-Friction™ strategy, a business model that maximizes customers’ utilization of their assets. By making accurate data-driven information accessible to open-source tools customers can extract and use accurate information to achieve better performance and truly improve both Quality of Service and Quality of Experience.
Both the MCM and MCS are systems under the umbrella of TAG’s multi-level Realtime Media Platform, the first solution of its kind capable of providing users with open-source, end-to-end tools for monitoring and probing signals, and aggregating, managing and analyzing data.
