The Largest Privately Owned Tech Publisher, Digital Trends, Announces Debut of Live TV Programming

PORTLAND, Ore.(24 Oct 2018)

Digital Trends, the world’s largest independent tech publisher, announced today their official foray into live video. The company’s original programming will be widely available on OTT platforms, on Twitch, and across social channels such as Youtube, Facebook and Twitter.

Based on previous live streaming successes, Digital Trends has developed state-of-the-art, in-house studios in NYC and Portland, Oregon to enable real-time communication and simulcasting between both locations for a seamless daily stream, and a third studio in Los Angeles is in development. Two hours of daily tech content will be produced on-site and streamed to live platforms. Content provides a daily look at what's happening at Digital Trends and its sister properties, Digital Trends en Español and The Manual, and will include unboxings, reviews, podcasts, and event and trade show coverage.

“Audiences respond differently to live video and Millennials, in particular, crave the authenticity and improvisation that puts the hosts right on the same level as the viewer. We’ve watched as live video has found a foothold in media, and we’ve been quietly testing what works and what doesn’t,” says CEO Ian Bell. “Now, we’re ready to give our audiences more of what they’ve responded to, and to lead the way for other video content providers.”

Digital Trends has partnered with Brandlive, a pioneer in enterprise streaming services, to engineer its premium live video experience.

Programming will begin with DT Daily, a conversational morning show that will feature interviews with tech influencers in the off-the-cuff, digestible, and conversational style typical of the DT brand. Beginning October 23, the show will air 5 days a week at 9am PST.

In addition to its home across OTT and social channels, live content will be promoted to Digital Trends’ 30 million unique monthly visitors, millions of social media followers, 1 million newsletter subscribers, and 3 million Chrome notification subscribers.
