Twitch selects Teradek Solutions for Largest Video Game Conference

Twitch, being one of the top CDN's for the Video Game industry, has chosen Teradek's lineup of encoders, decoders and cloud management systems for E3 Expo 2015.

Irvine,CA(16 Jun 2015)

Twitch has selected Teradek’s encoders, decoders and cloud solutions to stream live coverage of the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3 Expo). Teradek’s Bond II, T-Rax and Core will carry the press conference broadcasts of the gaming industry’s leading companies including Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo.

The Teradek Bond II will transmit full HD quality out of each press conference location. Deployed specifically for its growing demand in the broadcast and live event industry, for providing a robust and reliable internet connection. The Teradek Bond II will simultaneously combine wired and cellular sources as a fail-safe. Twitch has also turned to the Teradek T-Rax as a high-density H.264, but compact 2RU solution for housing multiple encoders and decoders for the workflow. This entire solution is managed by Teradek’s latest cloud management software, Core.

Being able to deploy multiple high quality encoder and decoder solutions at an efficient cost, redundant transmission connectivity, simple cloud management tools and on-site support, are some of the main elements to Twitch’s decision.

“Twitch’s presence at E3 is about delivering content to the people that cannot be here,” says Adam Contini Video Production manager at Twitch. “So when it comes to an event like E3, capturing content all around the city and back to the studio, is ultimately why we decided to go with Teradek to provide wireless video solutions.”

“The Teradek Bond solution is fantastic for us because of the amount of redundancy it provides with sending anything over the internet. If you have one single internet connection and that line drops, then you completely lose your signal. Especially for big events like E3, the Teradek Bond is absolutely necessary as a solution to this,” says Justin Ignacio, Broadcast Success Engineer at Twitch.
