VITEC Announces TurboVideo2 Technology: Sub One-Frame H.264 Encode/Decode in a Professional Portable Appliance

Redefining Low-Latency IPTV Streaming, VITEC’s MGW Sprint portable, rugged appliance encodes or decodes FULL HD 1080p video content in 4 milliseconds, delivering a glass-to-glass encoding + IP streaming + decoding service in under 1 frame delay.

Sunnyvale, CA(17 Apr 2013)

VITEC, a worldwide leader in advanced video solutions, today announced they will demonstrate their new, revolutionary TurboVideo2 technology for ultra low-latency delivery of HD H.264 IP video at NAB 2013 (Booth #SL6305).

VITEC will show a live demo of MGW Sprint Encoder and MGW Sprint Decoder, a set of portable appliances with HDMI, DVI and HD-SDI inputs and outputs that, together, deliver FULL HD video point to point at an unprecedented delay of less than one video frame. The set of appliances can operate in both 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 modes.

“The Video Streaming space is one of our main focus areas. With TurboVideo2 encoding and decoding technology, VITEC is strategically positioned to maintain its leadership in the low-latency market for years to come.” said Philippe WETZEL, Founder and CEO of VITEC. “As an engineering-oriented company, VITEC is committed to developing cutting-edge technologies and with this disruptive innovation of delivering H.264 Full HD video in less than one frame delay glass-to-glass we continue to fulfill our mission.”

“Low latency IPTV encoders have been in use for years for various applications such as Military Situational Awareness, Enterprise Collaboration Tools and sharing content with remote viewers. The ability to broadcast video over IP with less than 10 miliseconds end-to-end delay now allows customers to use video streaming in applications that require true real-time experience and instantaneous response.” said Eli Garten, VP of Product Management for VITEC. “MGW Sprint powered by our new TurboVideo2 video processor is ideal for these extreme use-cases such as flying aircrafts and targeting, zero delay sharing desktop screens, HD video conferencing and even remote surgery.”
