Xumo Signs Five More Comedy OTT Brands, Amplifies Entertainment Genre
Cracked, Funny Or Die, Comedy Dynamics, JASH and Just for Laughs Join Xumo’s Lineup of Talented Brand Partners
IRVINE, Calif., (23 Jun 2016)
With VidCon hosting the year’s largest gathering of people who love online video, Xumo will debut five new channels from comedy-focused publishers: Cracked, Funny Or Die, Comedy Dynamics, JASH and Just for Laughs. Xumo is unveiling these five new, free channels on the heels of Tuesday’s joint announcement with Jukin Media’s The Pet Collective and People Are Awesome.
“Entertainment drives video consumption. And, for individuals always on-the-go—like those at VidCon—it’s even more important,” says Stefan Van Engen, SVP Content Programming & Acquisitions, of Xumo. “To that end, we’re pleased to be announcing a seriously funny new channel lineup full of talented comedy brands that have made it their mission to make people laugh.”
Cracked is a multi-platform humor and satire brand that entertains millennial audiences with irreverent video and narrative and sometimes takes a humorous look at serious subjects. Inspired by celebrities looking for an outlet for their creative genius, Funny Or Die has been delivering premium laughs since 2007. Showcasing the biggest names in the business, Just For Laughs has been a world leader in stand-up comedy production since 1983. Comedy Dynamics brings their own flavor of humor to their respective channel. JASH is a comedy community and studio founded by Michael Cera, Sarah Silverman, Reggie Watts and Tim & Eric. Currently reaching over 10 million cumulative social media fans, this new lineup of comedy channels will reach new and existing viewers through Xumo’s established distribution strategy of smart TV and mobile.
“We want to deliver content where our audience is active and engaged, and that place is increasingly over-the-top video platforms,” said Mandy Ng, general manager of Cracked. “Our website and social channels are still core to the Cracked content ecosystem, but Xumo is a powerful addition to how our audience can experience and view our videos.”
Xumo will also showcase its smart TV and unveil its newly released iOS mobile experiences at VidCon. Take a tour, get hands-on with Xumo or learn more by visiting booth 1315 in Hall C.
