iStreamPlanet Offers Integrated Cloud-Based, Live Streaming Services on Microsoft Azure

New Service Combines Live Video Workflow Powered by Aventus With Microsoft Azure Media Services Streaming and Content Delivery Services for a Turnkey Live Video Solution for Broadcasters of All Sizes

Las Vegas - NAB 2014(09 Apr 2014)

iStreamPlanet, the leader in live, announced today the company is offering live video services on Microsoft Azure. The new service, powered by Aventus, combines iStreamPlanet's content acquisition, ingest, live encoding services, and professional support with Microsoft Azure Media Services' multi-format packaging, highly available streaming and content delivery services. The offering provides a simplified, turnkey, live video services solution.

The live services package enables broadcasters of all sizes to take advantage of the robust configuration powering NBC Sports Digital live streaming. The end-to-end, cloud-based, live video workflow provides a best of breed approach to delivering live video to iOS, Android and Windows devices, gaming consoles and connected TVs.

iStreamPlanet will provide different packages to help customers dial in the solution that meets their needs and budgets. Customers will be able to choose from packages tailored for live events and live linear streaming channels.

"Microsoft and iStreamPlanet are committed to providing a complete live video workflow solution on Azure, making it faster and easier for broadcasters and content owners of all sizes to launch and monetize live streaming events and channels, with high quality and reliability," said Robin Cole, vice president of marketing and business development for iStreamPlanet.

"iStreamPlanet and Microsoft share a commitment to providing all content owners and aggregators a feature rich yet cost-effective and robust live streaming solution to bring new content and services to market faster, from large scale, live events to targeted live streaming scenarios," said Sudheer Sirivara, Director of Microsoft Azure Media Services.

How it Works

iStreamPlanet can acquire live sources from virtually any corner of the globe via IP, fiber or satellite. Content is then ingested, encoded and sent to Media Services, where it is dynamically packaged for the major delivery formats (DASH, HLS, HDS, and Smooth Streaming), archived in Azure cloud storage, and enabled for live streaming including cloud DVR and seamless live to VOD transitions. Microsoft's Content Distribution Network (CDN) offers optimized delivery to connected devices and can be managed to enable IP-based geo-blocking or token-based authentication services. Media processing features include ad and slate insertion, closed captions and multiple audio languages.

The live services will be made available in the Microsoft Azure Store in CY Q2 2014 and through Media Service ISV partners. To learn more or get started contact iStreamPlanet at www.iStreamPlanet.com .
